I would strongly recommend that tenants not rent from this landlord. My experience was extremely stressful with my landlord repeatedly crossing boundaries regarding my private living space. I rented one bedroom in a split-level home and had my own entrance, kitchen, living area, and bedroom. The only are we shared was the laundry space. Despite having separate living areas, my landlord repeatedly entered my space without my permission including my bedroom, moved my belongings, and showed the other bedroom to other prospective tenants without notice. I communicated that I was uncomfortable with these announced entries and finding things moved around, but the issue continued. Throughout my time, I also received repeated criticism regarding the cleanliness of my space despite making a consistent effort to keep the property clean. When I moved out, I thoroughly cleaned the unit and took extensive photos and videos documenting the condition. I requested a walkthrough with the landlord, but she declined. After I moved out, a portion of my security deposit was withheld for cleaning and additional utility charges, dispute the given condition which I left the property and utilities being included in the lease agreement. Overall, the biggest issue for me was the lack of privacy and respect for boundaries in addition to her communication. I would strongly encourage anyone considering renting to not and if you do, to get everything in writing and to document everything. I hope this helps future tenants to make an informed decision.
